Third edition of Music Video July 9 to September 28, 2008
Montréal, July 9, 2008. From July 9 to September 28, 2008, the Musée d’art contemporain presents the third edition of Music Video, a program of video clips screened as part of its Projections series.
2008 edition
Planned to tie in with the museum’s inaugural Québec Triennial, which has taken over all of its exhibition spaces, this third edition of Music Video consists entirely of productions emanating from the local music scene in the past three years. The program spotlights some of the artists and musicians who give vitality to the city that has shaped them and nurtured their talent. Fifteen titles in all, by thirteen Montréal directors: Ian Cameron, Geneviève Albert, Benjamin Steiger Levine, Pascale Bussières and David Clermont-Béïque, Jérémie Saindon, Pedro Pires, Gabriel Coutu-Dumont, Louis-Philippe Eno, Vincent Morisset, Sid-Z, Kaveh Nabatian and Dave Pawsey.
Music Video is a coming together of artists and musicians who enjoy experimenting collectively. According to program organizer Louise Simard, “aside from the initial idea, and achieving the perfect balance between concept and treatment, between image and music, a video’s success depends on sustaining energy from start to finish. And this energy often has its source in the relationship between director and artist.”
From now through September 28, plug into that energy at the Musée d’art contemporain.
Music Video program
Music Video is a program dedicated to the art of the music video, and to the video creators who have reinvented the art of filmmaking and expanded the scope of the visual arts. The museum’s goal in presenting Music Video is to illustrate the creative energy displayed in the music video field, raise the profile of these highly inventive artists and showcase their works in a contemporary art setting.
